The Pinnacle
The Pinnacle redefines Nashville’s live‑music landscape by offering a cutting‑edge venue that can accommodate a broad spectrum of performances—from chart‑topping concerts to corporate galas—right at the heart of downtown’s revitalized Nashville Yards. Design Technik was brought in by AEG to design a venue optimized for modern amplified music — from arena-style EDM shows to intimate singer-songwriter sets. Working in tight coordination with architects and engineers, our role extended from design consultation to construction administration.
Harmonizing
Sound & Space
With peak sound pressure levels measured at 123 dB at 40–50 Hz, low-frequency energy management was critical. Traditional bass traps weren’t sufficient — so we embedded a multi-octave acoustic system directly into the structure.
This full-range treatment extended across rear walls (upper and lower balcony zones), and stage-adjacent surfaces. The result: high-energy performances without overwhelming boom or uncontrolled reverb.
We collaborated across disciplines to ensure that every acoustic element served both sonic and structural goals.
This approach eliminated the trade-off between acoustic performance and architectural integrity.
A key challenge in large venues is avoiding extremes: overly live reflections or overly dead zones. Our design maintains:
Controlled low/mid frequencies (sub to 500 Hz) throughout the venue
Preserved high-end reflections to keep the room vibrant
Targeted control zones for natural response across seating levels
The result is a coherent, full-spectrum experience from stage, to front of house, to balcony.
